About Us

How It All Started

Dr Peggy C Wong has successfully built many businesses, but meeting children from underprivileged circumstances had such an impact on her that her focus now is on helping children in need.

“Some of these children do not even have one meal a day. Some walk for 2 hours to go to school and 2 hours back home again. There are children who go to school for only 14 days a year, as and when their parents can afford the boat fare. And there are those who carry a precious pair of shoes on their back and wear them only when they reached school,” she shares.

Thus Dr Wong started Living Hope in May 2007 as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to bring both awareness and resources to these children. Since that time, Dr Wong has travelled all over Peninsular Malaysia, and Sabah and Sarawak, to meet these children, understand their plight and bring much needed help in terms of donations that go towards the feeding and education programmes that she has set up. She firmly
believes that education is the one and only way out of the vicious cycle of poverty.

On top of that, she has also connected them with friends and well wishers who are like-minded in wanting to help. The compassion she has for these underprivileged ones far exceeds the time, resources and comfort she has sacrificed to bring change to their lives. Driven by a personal vision to do her part to alleviate the suffering of these children and applying her corporate wisdom, she has dedicated herself to being an
instrument to bring living hope and love to these little ones. Since starting Living Hope, Dr. Wong has been to places she has never imagined and touched the lives of people she never knew existed. Her greatest joy is seeing the smiles on the faces of children who have only known hunger and poverty.

She believes that the Almighty uses Living Hope to show compassion, love and care to poor, needy and marginalized children in Malaysia and eventually throughout the world irrespective of race, religion and kind.

Touched by her passion to help the innocent victims of circumstances, a few of her friends and business associates have come forward to help her. Coming from different professional backgrounds, they are specialists in their fields, synergizing their talents, knowledge and capabilities to form an effective team to make Living Hope a source of blessing to many children.

As of 16th March 2012, Living Hope has been registered as an NGO under Persatuan Kebajikan Kehidupan Harapan Petaling, Selangor, Malaysia (Registrar of Societies). This enables Living Hope to reach out to many more poor, needy and marginalized children in Malaysia and internationally.

The Living Hope Management Committee
The Living Hope Management Committee is made up of volunteers who are professionals and specialists in their fields, synergizing their talents, time and energy to bring love and hope to poor, needy and underprivileged children who are often neglected and forgotten. They are assisted by volunteer helpers, friends and well wishers who support the cause by helping out at special events and projects, and with their generous donations.
